Portland Location
 

We are a dynamic and rapidly growing branch within the company looking for a motivated, career-driven Export Operations Specialist to join our team in Portland, OR.

 Job Description:

 

The Export Operations Specialist is responsible for processing shipments and all related activities for an assigned base of accounts. The individual will have contact with customers, carriers and potential customers on a daily basis. He/she must be proactive in providing quality customer service and have the ability to handle pressure and responsibility in a fast-paced environment, in a timely and affective manner. The successful candidate must have strong customer service skills and be capable of handling dual tasks.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare documentation, dock receipts, bills of lading, export declarations.
  • File SED's (Shippers Export Declarations)
  • Track and trace cargo as necessary to insure proper movement and delivery.
  • Provide accounting department with proper and correct billing information.
  • Communicate with customers regarding disposition of Freight (i.e. tracking & tracing, routing & dispatching, and rate quotations).
  • Communicate with vendors/suppliers regarding shipment dispatch, routing, pricing, and rates.
  • Communicate & correspond with other Company branches and agents for customer satisfaction, and ensure excellent service execution.
  • Seek the most profitable mode of shipment, yet meet customer's requirement for the movement of freight.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum (4) years related experience in similar role.
  • Minimum (3) years of direct industry experience.
  • Knowledgeable of Import/Export and Shipping procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate (verbally and intuitively) effectively with both customers and internal personnel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a career-oriented, hard-working, quick learner with excellent recall for past events/situations/numbers.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Proactive in providing quality customer service is a must.

Position: Business Development

Requirements/Description:

The primary focus of this position is to expand and broaden our business by identifying and converting opportunities from prospects and exiting accounts

Desired Competencies

  • Experienced in the consultative selling approach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent listening and analytical skills
  • Previous operational background a plus but not required
  • Good understanding of the European and Far East Trade Lanes both inbound and outbound
  • Creative ability pared with a good grasp of operational issues to offer tailor made solutions to customer problems
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Focused, disciplined, driven, team player and a successful closer

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identity opportunities in the market place by using internal and external resource and past experience  
  • Meet with prospects, offer value propositions and convert such prospects into new customers
  • Prepare sales quotations and bids on an on going basis
  • Prepare sales reports
  • Generate overseas leads and follow up on leads received from overseas
  • Prepare SOPs for new accounts and monitor the successful onboarding of new business

Qualifications

  • Must be allowed to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to travel within the assigned territory
  • Minimum of 3 years previous sales experience within the freight forwarding industry
  • Proven track record
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
